The first few days are the hardest

During the first few days after losing your loved one, you may find yourself overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from others. Remember, it's okay not to respond to everyone.

Don't set any expectations for how you should be feeling. Guilt, anger, frustration, a deep sense of helplessness-–these are all natural. Your feelings are valid whatever they may be. It's important to make space for these emotions as they come and go.
